Heart attack and weet bix
Yesterday morning Jacob and I were cycling to his creche when his trilling and tra-la-ing took a strange and strangled turn. Not at all musical. Curious, I peaked over his shoulder and was a tad alarmed to discover that his face was bright red and he was doing an alarmingly good impersonation of a-baby-choking-while-cycling-along-Eerste-van-de-Helst-Straat.
Which is why yesterday is so far the first day in my life when I can safely say I was very happy to be thrown up on.
By the time I'd stopped the bike, propped it, run around to the front, (Jacob is now REDDER), torn off the safety belt on the baby seat, loosened his scarf, (strangled choking noises continue, Jacob is going purple) taken off his hat which is tied under his chin, loosened his jacket, wrestled with the foot straps and FINALLY started lifting him from his seat, all with the aim of holding him over my arm and patting his back to try and dislodge whatever it was causing the alarming choking noises coming from his throat, I was actually very relieved when just as I was lifting him up an enormous chunky wave of weet-bix-with-banana-and-honey-thanks-mum came flooding down on me.
And Jacob is now fine. He is on the tail end of a cold and ear/throat infection and the throwing up he repeated another three times today is apparently quite common with ear infections. The doctor he saw today was sure that he will be well again soon.
Me, I might never recover.
